Police saving lives
Sunday, Jan. 13’s blaring headline, page 1, above the fold, (premier spot for all papers) read “Police have fatally shot 24 since 2013.” I read the article by Zach Murdock and was a bit confused by the apparent bent to “speed up” investigations into fatal shootings so that, it seemed to me, a story could be written. I also saw not one word about our 47 Connecticut police officers who were fatally shot in the year 2018 alone. There were 147 deaths of Connecticut officers altogether in the line of duty last year. These are very brave men and women who stand between us and the “bad guys” and have to make split-second decisions on lifesaving matters. Twenty-four deaths in six years is an awful thing, but if it saved one more life it was worth it.
