West Haven downs New Fairfield/Immaculate in OT

Niko Kyle scored the final two goals, including one in overtime to lift the West Haven boys ice hockey team to a 5-4 victory over New Fairfield/Immaculate Saturday afternoon at West Haven.

Kaden Morgillo also scored twice for the Westies. Ryan Moody scored the first two goals for New Fairfield/Immaculate.

No. 6 Notre Dame-West Haven 7, St. Joseph 1: John D’Errico had a goal and two assists for Notre Dame-West Haven in a non-conference win at Shelton.

John Michael Childs added a goal and an assist for the Green Knights (7-7-1). Thomas Schietinge­r scored in the opening period for the Cadets (215).

No. 5 Fairfield Prep 3, Bishop Hendricken (R.I.) 1: Mason Whitney, Chandler Dumont and Colin Bella all scored for Fairfield Prep in a game played at the Pope Francis Invitation­al in West Springfiel­d, Massachuse­tts.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Hamden 4, Hand co-op 0: Claire Boncek and Reilly Sargolini both had a goal and an assist for Hamden (11-6) in an SCC home win.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Derby 51, Bristol Eastern 31: Jahwan Cody scored 15 points for Derby in a non-conference home win.

The Red Raiders (8-12) qualified for postseason play for the second straight season after missing the previous 10 years. Elijah Parent scored 10 points for Bristol Eastern (4-13).
