GLOBE PEQUOT VISITS
Established local publisher Globe Pequot met with its national sales team at The Griswold Inn in Essex to discuss fall 2019 books with their sales force earlier this month. Gathering at the 1776 Griswold Inn to celebrate New England history was particularly fitting for Globe, an independent press. The Inn is one of the oldest continuously operating inns in the country, and also independently owned. Founded in 1947 in Chester as the Pequot Press, named after a local tribe, it was acquired by the Boston Globe in 1981 before changing hands to Morris Communications. Its current owner, Rowman & Littlefield, acquired the press in 2014. Now in Guilford, Globe publishes approximately 400 titles annually, focusing on iconic brands and people, regional interest, history, lifestyle, cooking and food culture, and folklore.
