KISS: ‘End of the Road’ world tour

- By Linda Tuccio-Koonz

You may not want to get your make-up tips from the guys in this group, but the fact remains KISS is one of the best-selling bands in the history of hard rock. And these guys know how to party. It wouldn’t be a KISS concert without fog, flames and confetti.

The band that’s sold 100 million records over the course of 46 years is bringing its 2019 “End of the Road” world tour to Connecticut. KISS plays Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday, March 23, and has said this will be its last tour (though who knows how long it will go on).

“Alive!” — the group’s breakthrough record — came out in 1975 and featured live versions of selected tracks, such as “Rock and Roll All Nite” and “Hotter Than Hell,” from their first three studio albums. Their powerful music went on from there, and the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.

Current members Gene Simmons, Eric Singer, Paul Stanley and Tommy Thayer acknowledge KISS didn’t create its legacy all by itself. “All that we have built and all that we have conquered over the past four decades could never have happened without the millions of people worldwide who’ve filled clubs, arenas and stadiums over those years,” KISS said in a statement.

“This will be the ultimate celebration for those who’ve seen us and a last chance for those who haven’t. KISS Army, we’re saying goodbye on our final tour with our biggest show yet and we’ll go out the same way we came in... Unapologetic and Unstoppable.”

Mohegan Sun Arena, 1 Mohegan Sun Blvd., Uncasville. Saturday, March 23, 7:30 p.m. $169, $139, $99, $79. 800-745-3000, mohegansun.com
