Child gives up Disney trip to help find Jennifer Dulos

A 7-year-old Connecticut boy was so touched by the search for Jennifer Dulos, the missing mother of five who disappeared May 24, that he started a fundraising effort to pay for tips leading to solid information in the case.

But, according to New Canaan Deputy Police Chief John W. DiFederico, Dulos’ family is “asking that no financial rewards of funds be established at this time.”

Riley Daigle, of Wethersfield, has started a GoFundMe page to raise $5,000 and is donating the $500 he saved in hopes of offering a reward for anyone who provides information to police that leads to finding Jennifer Dulos or a conviction in the missing persons case, a post on the GoFundMe site said.

Riley was “so sickened and upset to see that five children have a missing mom that he pledged to put all of the money in his savings account ($500) to any information leading to a conviction or leading to the missing mom,” his mother Danielle Daigle said in the post.

Riley’s mom told Fox 61 Riley originally planned to use the money for his August birthday trip to Disney, but he decided to give that up. Instead, he is saving the money to help police find Jennifer Dulos.

“This is the kindest act imaginable: A 7-year-old-boy from Wethersfield has offered his savings as a reward to help find Jennifer Farber Dulos,” family and friends of the missing woman wrote in a statement. “His selflessness and generosity have touched our hearts. A little child shall lead them.

“The impact of Jennifer’s disappearance on her five young children, family, and friends is affecting many people in similar ways. We urge this young man to keep his savings, but we honor his impulse. This is about more than a reward — it is a call to do something.”

Riley’s mother posted on the GoFundMe page, “we know someone out there knows something, maybe a reward will help them come forward.” It was set up “because my little boy wants to help this family find peace and justice.”

New Canaan and State Police have conducted numerous searches throughout the state since Jennifer Dulos went missing. Searches have concentrated at Waveny Park in New Canaan and properties owned by Fotis Dulos’ real estate development company, the Fore Group.

Members of the state police search-and-rescue team have also been using dogs trained to detect human remains to search a Hartford garbage dump.

According to arrest warrants, Fotis Dulos was seen on video throwing garbage bags into more than 30 trash bins in a four-mile span in Hartford the night his estranged wife disappeared. Police said Troconis was seen in the passenger seat and both of their cellphones placed them in the area at that time.

Garbage bags that were recovered contained Jennifer Dulos’ blood, the warrants said. Police have since been searching the dump for bags that had already been hauled away.

Police have received hundreds of tips and 80 security videos from the public, but so far Jennifer Dulos has not been found.
