Yale men’s soccer: The Bulldogs defeated UConn for first time since 2003. Yale hadn’t scored in its last seven meetings with the Huskies, but notched three goals in first half in 3-0 win. The Bulldogs followed that up with 3-1 win over Niagara.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Sarah Hammond, Wesleyan women’s soccer: Sophomore goalkeeper had 11 saves and allowed just two goals as Cardinals upset top-ranked Williams before defeating No. 25 Springfiel­d on Tuesday.

34: Score by the Trinity men’s cross country team in winning the University of New England team title.

Field hockey, UConn at Quinnipiac, Friday, 3 p.m.: Perennial national championsh­ip contending Huskies make their way to Hamden for a Big East showdown. The Bobcats are led by Bianka Strubbe (three goals).

Men’s soccer, Quinnipiac at Central Connecticu­t, Friday, 6 p.m.: Jared Mazzola recorded a season-high seven saves the last time out for the Bobcats while Panos Ravanis netted CCSU’s first goal of the season in a tie against Rhode Island on Tuesday.

Men’s soccer, Fairfield at Hartford, Saturday, 4 p.m.: Hartford has played four straight one-goal games, winning the last three while Fairfield has already played three overtime games.

Women’s volleyball, Sacred Heart at Yale, Saturday, 7 p.m.: Bulldogs wrap up non-conference play by hosting the young, talented Sacred Heart squad.

HOMETOWN FOCUS

Catherine Hayden, North Carolina field hockey: The senior from Greenwich is tied for third among Division I players with 1.2 goals per game as she had scored five times in the last two games for the undefeated Tar Heels.
