Local ShopRite locations get new meal planning program
ShopRite wants to make customers meal prepping easier.
The grocery chain’s parent company, Wakefern Food Corp., has partnered with Denverbased Locai Solutions to launch a new pilot program meant to offer personalized recipes and food shopping for customers.
“The technology simplifies meal planning and makes recipe shopping easier and more cost effective,” said Steve Henig, Wakefern’s chief customer officer, in a news release.
The program will be available at all ShopRite’s Connecticut locations.
The service uses a customer’s online shopping preferences to recommend recipes and ingredients through ShopRite’s ecommerce page, “The Recipe Shop.” The platform will initially feature hundreds of recipe ideas, with many more being uploaded throughout the year through Locai’s CookIt technology.
The Denver company provides ecommerce solutions like CookIt to grocery companies nationwide.
Wakefern Food Corp. is one of the largest retailerowned cooperatives in the U.S. with 50 members who independently own and operates 352 supermarkets under the ShopRite, The Fresh Grocer, Price Rite Marketplace and Dearborn Market banners along the East Coast.
ShopRite has locations in Brookfield, Danbury, Fairfield, Norwalk, Shelton, Stamford and Stratford. The pilot program is expected to expand to the remaining ShopRites nationwide and The Fresh Grocer locations within the next four months.
“We’re excited to partner on CookIt with Wakefern under both their ShopRite and The Fresh Grocer banners,” said Mike Demko, Locai CEO. “They put a high value on what their brands deliver, and the addition of our CookIt product to their online shopping platform will further elevate the customer experience for both online and instore shoppers.”
