Buttonwood Tree sets concerts, events in November

Nov. 8: Dirty Cello, 8 p.m., $15. From China to Italy and around the U.S., Dirty Cello brings the world a high energy and unique spin on blues and bluegrass. Led by cellist Rebecca Roudman, Dirty Cello is cello like you’ve never heard before.

Nov. 9: Frank Varela Trio, 8 p.m,. $10. Legendary jazz guitarist Larry Coryell has described Varela’s music as jazz done with a blues based, funk oriented foundation and have compared him to Grant Green, Eric Gale and Jeff Beck.

Nov. 10: Celebratin­g Roy Lisker, 36 p.m., tickets required. This celebratio­n will feature readings and remembranc­es, a Beethoven piano sonata played by Jacob Smullyan, and a new compositio­n by Neely Bruce created in Roy’s honor and premiered by the West End String Quartet.

Nov. 15: Mattabeset­t String Collective, 8 p.m., $15, $12 for members. A 5piece acoustic ensemble playing an eclectic mix of bluegrass, blues, folk, mountain, country and rock, all in a string band style.

Nov. 16: Teen Open Mic, 35 p.m., third Saturday, $5. An open mic specifical­ly for performers ages 1218. Perform any type of art and bands are welcome. Call for details.

Nov. 16, Brett Bottomley Trio, 8 p.m., $15. An Allstar group featuring internatio­nally Chapman Stick Artist, Brett Bottomley, they perform Latin, Original and Jazz standards.

Nov. 19, Crystal Bowl Sound Healing w/ Lou Sorrentino, third Tuesday, 7:308:30 p.m., donation.

Nov. 21: Eric Mintel Quartet, 7 p.m., $20. Brubeck, Mintel and more. With Nelson Hill sax Dave Mohn drums Jack Hegyi bass and Eric Mintel Piano.

Nov. 22: Mary Dipaola, 8 p.m., $10. Performing a variety of arranged jazz standards and original compositio­ns of the featured performers.

Nov. 23: Tom “The Suit” Forst, 8 p.m., $15 advance, $18 at the door. Blues Hall Of Fame recording artist Tom Forst and The Band Beyond A Band Beyond, with bassist Dave Stoltz, keyboardis­t Vincent Brike, and Big Thurrsty on the drums.

Nov. 29: Saskia Laroo Album Release Party, 8 p.m., $15. Celebrate her latest album and live project, “Trumpets Around the World” with original funky dance, hiphop, world vibes, and jazzy flavors melded together.

Nov. 30: Lisa Bastoni & Naomi Sommers, 8 p.m., Nov. 30, $15. Accomplish­ed songwriter­s in the Americana/folk genre.
