Games to watch

East Haven at Branford (Northford), Wednesday, 6 p.m.; Hand at North Haven (Northford), Wednesday, 8 p.m.: We’re grouping them together because there’s a not-unreasonable chance they’ll play these games again at Bennett Rink in a week. The four teams have clinched spots in the SCC/ SWC Division 2 tournament. These games will help sort out the pairings for those games. Branford can clinch the top seed in CIAC Division II with a win.

Hall/Southington at Newington co-op (Newington Ice Arena), Wednesday, 7 p.m.: Two of the top three teams in Division III meet for the second time in a week; Newington won the first meeting 4-2 at the end of three games in three days for Hall/Southington. They appear fated to meet again next week in the CCC South tournament. And then we’ll see about mid-March.

Darien at Trumbull (The Rinks at Shelton), Wednesday, 8:30 p.m.: A Darien win creates a three-way tie atop the FCIAC that will be determined by lot on Thursday.

LHK at WMRP (Newington Ice Arena), Saturday, 1 p.m.: WMRP could mathematically clinch the fourth seed on Wednesday, but if not, there was a chance for it to happen here, too. Westhill/Stamford and Woodstock Academy were also alive for the spot.

Farmington Valley at East Catholic (Champions), Saturday, 3:20 p.m.: The Generals were going to have to thread the needle to get the top seed in Division II, but it’s mathematically possible as of Wednesday. The needlethreading started with taking care of its own business, Northwest Catholic on Wednesday and this game in Cromwell.

Hand at Branford (Northford), Saturday, 7:30 p.m.: Arguably — and apparently the GameTimeCT top 10 poll makes that argument — the top two teams in Division II, meeting up to end the season (and conceivably, at this point, decide the top seed in the division).

Hall/Southington at McMahon/ Norwalk (SoNo Ice House), Monday, 7 p.m.: Not even the end of the regular season (Hall/Southington visits JBWA in Danbury next Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.), but getting close with a fun Division III matchup.
