SUMMER MARKET: Durham’s summer market, Thursdays, 3-6:30 p.m. Residents are reminded to follow state guidelines with physical distancing, proper handwashing and masks; all vendors will be wearing coverings and masks; one customer at each booth at a time. A wide variety of vendors are expected For information, email farmersmarket@townofdurhamct.org or visit www.townofdurhamct.org The gates for the Durham Fair will be opened for market parking and looping around to exit. Enter through Broadway and exit on Canfield as noted in the map. Do not hang out or go anywhere else on the Durham Fair property, it is private. CURBSIDE SERVICE: The Ivoryton Public Library will begin offering curbside service to its patrons May 20, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2-5 p.m. and 9 a.m.-noon on Saturdays. Patrons can request Ivoryton library materials by calling 860-767-1252, or by emailing staff@ivorytonlibrary.org. The items will be placed in a labeled bag and put on a table outside or given directly to you by arrangement. Items include books, puzzles, crossword puzzle books, and assorted magazines. GALLERY REOPENING: Spectrum Gallery and Artisans Store of Centerbrook reopens June 4 with a reception from 12-6 p.m. Gallery guests will be able to select from a wide range of original fine art and one-of-a-kind crafts from Spectrum’s current exhibit, Shadow Dance, which has been extended until July 5. For details on classes and events, go to spectrumgallery.org YARN CREATIONS: Take a stroll through the center of East Hampton and you’re likely to see a pink elephant, giant loaf of bread, jelly fish, as well as other amazing objects. They are amazing because they are all created from yarn. Various knitting and crocheting enthusiasts from East Hampton, Hebron, and Marlborough and students from Epoch Arts have created this special fiber arts installation for everyone’s enjoyment, June 4-July 12.

HERITAGE TRAIL WALK: Hartman Heritage Trail-DIY Self-Guided Walk, June 6-7, at Hartman Park main entrance, Gungy Road, Lyme, part of CT Trails Day 2020. Pick up an updated Lyme Corner Trails (Hartman Park, Walbridge Woodlands, Young Preserve) map and interpretive trail brochure at the “schoolroom” in Hartman Park or download from lymelandtrust.org. The original interpretive trail guide, “The Heritage Trail, a Walk in Hartman Park” Booklet, was written by Marianne Pfeiffer in 1996. An updated 2015 version of the booklet is available on lymelandtrust.org The entire trail is about 3 miles long with options for shortcuts. There are some rocky areas and moderate hill climbs. Bring a water bottle. The parking lot is on Gungy Road about 1.5 miles north of the 4-way stop signs at the intersection of Beaverbrook Road, Grassy Hill Road, and Gungy Road.
