‘GIVE YOUR HEART TO MAPLETON HALL’ FUNDRAISER SET
SUFFIELD — While Mapleton Hall has been closed since March of 2020, the Suffield Players have been busy with renovations at their historic theatre home, while still producing virtual shows and theatre workshops.
“Give Your Heart to Mapleton Hall,” a family-oriented variety show and fundraiser, will be held online from 7 - 8 p.m. Feb. 27.
“Perseus and Medi” by Nicole Murray, premieres at 7 p.m. April 9-10; the show is recommended for ages 13 and up. All performances can be seen live on The Players’ Facebook page: www.Facebook.com/ TheSuffieldPlayers on the dates mentioned or watched afterward in recorded versions on YouTube.
The online performances are free and open to the public, with donations appreciated, members said. All contributions will benefit the Suffield Players and Mapleton Hall.
Members said, “The outside of the Hall was “Brushed Up” with a fresh coat of paint this past fall by Brad Willard Pro Painting, thanks to the generosity of sponsors and members,” according to a statement. “The main hall got a brush-up of its own, when volunteers repaired, cleaned, and repainted the audience seating platforms. Downstairs, the generous support of The Suffield Rotary Club allowed J.T.N. Electrical to replace outdated (and failing) lighting with energy-efficient LED units.”
An Audition Workshop and three short plays were presented virtually this past fall and winter. The shows were recorded, and are available for audiences to enjoy on The Suffield Players’ YouTube Channel: https:// www.youtube.com/channel /UCZ0FZLN6nI_GNvA_tPH6dJQ /videos
Two online productions are coming up in February and April 2021, as well as another theatre workshop.
“Acting For The Camera,” a workshop for aspiring virtual actors taught by former professional anchor Michelle Elaine Kennedy, is open for sign-ups! The workshop is scheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 9. Tuition is $75 and scholarships are available.
