Cops: Man threatened woman
MIDDLETOWN — A city man is facing charges in connection with alleged threats made against a local woman, according to police.
According to police, the alleged threat, made in calls, involved burning down her home.
Sean T. Robotham, no age given, of Rose Circle is charged with first-degree threatening, police said.
According to police, Robotham was questioned by officers and allegedly acknowledged he had said the things, but added, “I didn’t mean that dumb (expletive)”
Police noted in their arrest report that Robotham “currently has two pending cases including two third-degree assault charges, as well as risk of injury to a minor and second-degree strangulation.” The state judicial website also reports these charges.
The woman allegedly also told police that she was “scared about filing a police report because I think he (Robotham) will retaliate” against her, police said.
According to police, an acquaintance of Robotham called the woman and said Robotham was going to go to her home.
He allegedly had told the acquaintance that he would burn down the woman’s house, according to the police report.
The acquaintance urged the woman to leave her house “in case he does come by,” according to police.
The woman who filed the complaint to police did leave the house, according to police, and filed a restraining order against Robotham.
The woman went to police headquarters to report the incident after hearing the recording of the alleged threat, police said.
Hartford police took Robotham into custody at a relative’s home there, and he was picked up by Middletown police, according to the police report.
Robotham was released on $25,000 bond.
