SingleCare users save up to 80% on scripts
MIDDLETOWN — Even with insurance, many people, especially lower-income residents, often struggle to cover deductibles and copays. The Middlesex United Way is proud to have partnered with FamilyWize since 2008 to help cover some of these expenses.
Over the past decade, 10,000 local individuals have saved over $1 million on prescription medications through the Middlesex United Way’s partnership with FamilyWize.
Today, we are excited to share that FamilyWize is officially combining with, and will now be known as, SingleCare, a national leader in prescription savings cards.
Through SingleCare, individuals and families will be able to use their prescription discount card to save up to 80 percent on prescription drugs. SingleCare works directly with pharmacies to negotiate prescription prices and pass savings onto members, free of charge. It offers the top 40 most purchased medications at $10 and under.
If you use SingleCare, you have the opportunity to sign up for their free loyalty program that allows members to save even more on the already discounted prices. Members get an extra $5 in bonus savings just for signing up.
Both SingleCare and their loyalty program are completely free. The company essentially acts like a huge consumer group buying service for the uninsured and underinsured. The discounts and savings on medications are provided voluntarily by more than 60,000 participating pharmacies that agree to provide prices similar to what they give large insurance companies and employers.
The SingleCare card has no eligibility requirements and is available to anyone. There are no forms to fill out, waiting period or registration.
If you have prescription drug coverage, this program can be used to obtain savings on prescription drugs that may be excluded by your insurance plan or are not covered because you have exceeded your insurance plan’s maximum limits. In some instances, you might find that the SingleCare’s price is actually lower than your program’s copayment amount.
SingleCare partners with some of the most respected community groups and health care providers in the country, including United Way Worldwide, National Council for Behavioral Health, Mental Health America, and American Heart Association, among thousands of other community organizations.
When people can afford their prescriptions, they end up saving money on more expensive items like emergency room visits and hospitalizations.
In Middlesex County, SingleCare is accepted by major pharmacies, including CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens and Walmart, as well as many local retailers.
To sign up for the program, visit SingleCare.com, download the Android or Apple app, or print out the card. If you would like to pick up cards, please contact Maria Wood at Maria.wood@middlesex unitedway.org.
