7 ways to vent your frustration in Conn.

- By Andrew DaRosa

Is work stressing you out? Need to just get away from the house for a few hours a week?

Connecticut boasts a wide variety of stress-relieving activities that will allow you to take out those frustrations and anxieties in a healthy manner. While some activities require you to pay in order to let that anger out, some are just as easy as walking outside and getting some fresh air.

Unleash your inner beast in a rage room

Have you ever gotten so angry that you just wanted to smash a TV with a baseball bat?

That fantasy can now be reality as Connecticut has opened up its first-ever rage room in West Hartford. Smash Avenue allows customers to pay to destroy household items like bottles and toilets without the remorse of destroying your own property.

Participants have 20 minutes to let out their frustration by clobbering their way out of one of two smash rooms.

Smash Avenue is located at 635 New Park Avenue, Suite 2C in West Hartford. Customers sign up online through Smash Avenue’s website for a time slot and package. Smash Avenue is open Thursday through Sunday. The packages range from $29.99 for 15 to 20 minutes to $95.99 for a longer period of time.

Bury the hatchet with axe throwing

Nothing screams "take your frustration out" more than heaving an axe. Axe throwing has become a modern pastime that can be enjoyed with some friends or on a solo trip.

While you can't throw the axe as hard as humanly possible due to strict throwing rules, it is still fun to see how good your aim is while letting go of all of those daily worries and frustrations.

Fulfill the need for speed with go-karting

Put the pedal to the metal as you whip around in a go-kart. While going 50 mph in a go kart is certainly thrilling, the true rush comes from bumping other riders out of your way as you race around the course.

Though green shells and chain chomps aren't part of this karting experience, go karting is a timeless way to blow off some steam. (Visit open-racer.com/go-karting-tracks to find a track near you.)

Take aim with a few rounds of paintball

While this is the most painful way to take out some frustration, paintball is a fun time to be had. That is until you're covered in welts from head-to-toe.

Take some friends with you (perhaps some friends who have gotten on your last nerve) and unload a whole round of paintballs at them. Head to Extreme Paintball in Waterbury, Hogans Alley in Meriden or any of CT’s other paintball shops.

Take a hike (no, actually)

Perhaps the least aggressive alternative on this list, hiking is a great way to get in tune with nature and just let all of the everyday worries whisk away. Head to alltrails.com to scout out your next hike.
