George J Golia, age 74, passed away peacefully at his home in Port Charlotte, Florida on Saturday, June 19, 2021. He was born April 1, 1947 in New Haven to Elizabeth Pellegrino and the late John Golia. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Debbi Golia (Bailey) originally of Hamden, his children: Jaclyn Plucker (Jason) of Fort Myers, FL, CoralAnn (Cori) Finocchiaro (Sam) of MA and Michael Golia of Wallingford. George is survived by his siblings: Josephine A. Golia of Branford, Lucia Franco (Tim Lynch) of East Haven, Elizabeth Franco-Spano (David) of East Haven and his brother Eugene Mikulski of Branford as well as his brother-in-laws Don Bailey, Jr. (Sandy) of North Haven, Bill Bailey (Libby) of Wallingford and his sister-in-law Linda Bailey of Hamden along with 8 grandchildren: Jayson, Jaycob, Ella, Evan, Michael, Allysa, Dani, Jaclyn, Michele and Tyler. George is also survived by several nieces and nephews, a great nephew and niece and many cousins.

George was a U. S. Army veteran having served for five years. He was retired from his landscaping business but never from his passion for music. He was an incredibly talented guitarist and a member of some well known classic rock bands in Connecticut and Florida spanning decades and performing up until as recent as two years ago.

From an early age, George was a car enthusiast having owned such classics as a 57 Chevy and a 59 MG. However, his most prized vehicles were his Harley Davidson motorcycles. In 2015, he and his friends took to the road for the annual bike rally in Sturgis, South Dakota. Most recently he and his family vacationed in Jamaica where he enjoyed a great game of golf, another passion of his.

George was loved and adored by his family and many dear friends. He will be sorely missed by all including his adorable chihuahua-mix females, Lexi and Patsy.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fawcett Memorial, FL for their care and compassion and his nurse, Grace, from Tidewell Hospice who provided exceptional care in his final hours. A special thank you to Pastor Dale Schwarz of Harbor Light Baptist Church, West Haven for praying with George and offering the gift of salvation which he humbly received.

In George’s memory, you may make a donation to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
