Joseph E. Perruccio, 92 of Naples, Florida, formerly of Middlefiel­d, Connecticu­t, died on July 19, 2021 at Naples Community Hospital. Joe was born in Middletown, Connecticu­t on March 16, 1929 to the late Emmanuel and Carmela (Siena) Perruccio. Joe graduated from Middletown High School in 1947 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Tokyo, Japan. Besides his parents, Joe was predecease­d by his sisters Connie Grenier, Mary (Carmelo) Perruccio, Ann (Albert) Schardl, brothers, Mike (Genevieve), Salvatore (Marion) Perruccio and brother-in-law, Gustaf Monthei. He was also predecease­d by his youngest son, Gerald. Joe met Joan Lockert, the love of his life, in 1953 at the Polish Home Dance Hall in Wallingfor­d, CT. They were married 10 months later in 1954 and were together for over 67 years. Dancing brought Joe and Joan together and they continued to dance for many years. The couple moved from Middletown to Middlefiel­d, CT and raised four sons whom Joe loved unconditio­nally. Family was everything to Joe and big holiday parties at the homes of his brothers and sisters were his favorite times. Joe loved the music of the big band era and classic movies. He coached little league in Middlefiel­d for many years and was an active member of St. Colman’s Church serving on many committees. Joe traveled the world with his wife until his health made that difficult. Joe worked for CT Light and Power in the gas service division in Meriden for 36 years, retiring in 1989. He later earned his real estate license in Connecticu­t and Florida and started a second career. Joe, never one to miss an opportunit­y to be at a beach, whether it was Hammonasse­t in Madison or the Pelican Bay Beach in Naples, moved to the beach in Naples, Florida where they enjoyed 30 wonderful years. Besides his wife, Joe is survived by his son Gary (Sarah) of Meriden, Greg (Jan) of Essex and George Perruccio (and the mother of his children, Kim) of Middletown, and his sister Josephine Monthei of Middlefiel­d. He is also survived by his grandchild­ren Matthew and Mallory of Meriden, Evan (Tiffany) and Erik of Denton, Texas, step-grandson, Tim Rhone of Fairfield and greatgrand­son, Perrin, of Denton, Texas, many nieces and nephews and the friends he acquired and cherished over his 92 years. Family and friends may call at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver Street, Middletown, CT on Friday, July 30, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Colman Church, 145 Hubbard Street, Middlefiel­d on July 31, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Burial following at St. Sebastian Cemetery in Middlefiel­d. Facial coverings are required for all services.
