Young artist paints seaside mural on shop

CLINTON — As Logan Cummings stood on a step ladder, putting the finishing touches on his mural in downtown Clinton, enthusiast­ic fans stopped by and car horns honked in appreciati­on of his work.

“It’s magic,” says Dave Robertson, owner of Scottish Dave’s Pub across the street, as he breezes by on his way to the bank.

The painting, depicting a sailboat that looks ready to tack, a red buoy and seagulls, was commission­ed by Donna Uricchio, co-owner of the Coffee Break.

The latex paint mural, some 12-by-36 feet, covers the eastern facing outside wall of Fringe Modern & Vintage, right next to Coffee Break.

Work is currently underway at the well-loved Coffee Break, with plans to reopen in early fall, funded by a state grant intended to improve the downtown.
