DURHAM — The Durham Registrars of Voters will hold a public lottery on Thursday morning to determine the order that names appear on the ballot for the upcoming municipal elections.

The horizontal order of candidate names who were nominated for multiple-opening offices will be finalized through this lottery, according to a press release. “Multiple-opening” offices refers to positions where more than one person is running, it said.

The lottery will be held at 11 a.m. in the Town Clerk’s office at 30 Town House Road.

All residents are invited. Those who show up are asked to consider wearing a mask.

Durham has a joint Board of Education with Middlefield, but four of the six seats reserved for Durham representation are up for grabs this fall, according to the news release. Durham voters will also decide two Board of Finance seats, one Board of Assessment Appeals seat, and five Planning and Zoning Commission spots.

Municipal elections will take place Nov. 2.
