Goodspeed offering arts program for youth, teens

EAST HADDAM — The fall semester of Goodspeed Musicals’ Kids Company, a performing arts education and training program for students 7 and older, begins Sept. 13.

Aspiring young actors are invited to register for the virtual ensembles or private studio taught over Zoom, according to a press release.

During ensembles, youth participat­e in weekly classes focused on acting, vocal performanc­e and dance. In the private studio, students who prefer a private learning environmen­t will train with Goodspeed teaching artists one on one and at their own pace, the venue said.

Goodspeed is offering an online version of its Goodspeed Classroom for K-12 schools this fall for educators seeking opportunit­ies to incorporat­e the arts into their classrooms.

The 14-week semester will culminate in an informal showcase for family, friends and the community. Ensembles tuition for ages 7-18 is $350. The private studio fee is $500 (for 30 minutes a week) or $725 (45 minutes a week).
