Mary Clark Fromme, 96, passed away on Thursday, September 2nd at Gladeview Health Care Center in Old Saybrook, CT. Mary was born in Ware, MA on April 3, 1925. She was the sixth of seven children born to parents Frederic B. and Alicia Gough Clark and was the last living member of her generation. Mary was raised in Ware and graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Springfiel­d, MA in 1946. She enjoyed a long career as a registered nurse working over the years in geriatrics, pediatrics, cardiac care and surgical units in private duty, hospital and long term care settings. She retired from Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, CT in 1987. Mary was a life-long member of the Catholic Church and lived a life of faith, courage, humility, good humor and kindness to others. She remained devoted to family, friends, the Boston Red Sox, UConn women’s basketball, reading, crossword puzzles and Lenny & Joe’s lobster rolls. She was fiercely proud of her Irish heritage. Mary was predecease­d by her husband Thomas J. Fromme (1987), her son James M. Fromme (2018), and her daughter Mary Fromme Bodensiek (2020). She is survived by her sons Geoffrey (Candise) of Longwood, FL and Joseph (Cindy) of Clinton, CT; daughters Christine Fahey (Kevin) of Old Saybrook, CT and Ellen Kehoe (John) of Alburgh, VT; son-in-law Paul Bodensiek (Mary) of North Attleboro, MA and daughter-in-law Pamela Nugent Fromme (James) of Hebron, CT, fifteen grandchild­ren, thirteen greatgrand­children, and many cherished nieces, nephews and their families. Her family would like to thank the staff at Gladeview Health Care Center in Old Saybrook for their kindness and devoted care.

Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at the Swan Funeral Home, 80 East Main Street, Clinton, CT. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 10 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church of the Visitation, 54 Grove Street, Clinton, CT.
