Denise Smith

WATERTOWN - Denise M. Smith, 72, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2021 at TouchPoint at Farmington. She was the beloved wife of Stewart “Randy” Smith and mother of Suzanne Genest of Woodbury.

Denise was born and brought up in Middletown, CT. by John Daley and her Aunt, Marge Mahoney. She was a graduate of the first class of Mercy High School and St. Vincent School of Nursing in Bridgeport. She was a RN for emergency rooms, psychiatric and geriatric facilities. Denise also operated an antique business and worked in retail later in life.

The words that could best describe Denise most clearly would be intelligent, inquisitive, articulate, generous, humorous, and caring for her neighbor in the broadest sense of the word. She was a woman after the heart of Miryam of Magdala, courageous and full of faith in her Messiah. She walked picket lines for better working conditions and pay for the nursing profession. She stood against gender, racial, and social injustice.

Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held on Sunday September 12th at 1:00pm at Gateway Bible Church 500 Buckingham St Oakville, Ct 06779.
