Josephine Marie (Musco) Tomei, 93, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2021 after a brief illness. Born in New Haven on August 19, 1928 she is the daughter of the late John Musco and Dorothy Esposito Musco. She graduated from Hillhouse High School in New Haven, She married her late and beloved husband Cesare (Chaz) Tomei in 1951. They were married for 65 years until Chaz’ passing in 2016. Josephine lived the last 57 years in Orange, CT. She was retired from the Veteran’s Administra­tion Hospital in West Haven, CT.

“Grammy” as she was known to her grandchild­ren was a terrific Italian cook with pasta and meatballs on a Sunday being a specialty! Holidays were extremely important to her and she created many dear memories for her family through her cooking and traditions. With many lifelong friends, Josephine’s life was filled with camaraderi­e, laughter and love. Her and Chaz loved to travel to Italy and they kept strong relationsh­ips with friends and relatives there as well.

Josephine leaves behind three children, Jeffrey (Susan) Tomei of Woodbridge, David (Laurie) Tomei of Orange and Linda Galluzzo of Hamden. She is also survived by grandchild­ren Matthew Tomei of Manchester, NH and Julia and Marina Tomei both of Boston, MA, Stephanie Lodovico of Cheshire and Michelle Sokolowski of Southbury. Josephine is also survived by four great grandchild­ren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday morning at 11:00 in Holy Infant Church 450 Racebrook Rd in Orange. Masks are required by all in attendance.
