- GRIDIRON CLUB HALL OF FAME — Register staff

The New Haven Gridiron Club Hall Of Fame will induct nine people at the 37th Annual Hall of Fame dinner on Sept. 9 at Cascades Banquet Facility in Hamden.

The inductees are: Mike Devito (Amity, 1980) wide receiver, played on Amity’s 1978 Class LL state championsh­ip team, then coached the Spartans from 2003-2010. Also past president of the New Haven Gridiron Club; Luigi Amasino (East Haven, 1997), inside linebacker who was both all-league and allstate, then was a three-year starter at The University of New Haven.

Maurice Edwards (Hillhouse 2003), a Register AllArea selection, all-state and Levi Jackson team pick who went on to play at Southern Connecticu­t State University; Tom Kuchar (Hamden, 1975), member of two District League Championsh­ip teams, Green Bowl Offensive Player Of The Year, Gridiron Club High School Player Award, Scholar Athlete and a member of an Ivy League Championsh­ip team at Dartmouth.

Giancarlo Gallo (North Haven, 2000), an All-SCC and all-state selection who went on to play at Southern Connecticu­t; Dan Parady (Notre Dame (W.H., 1987), an allstate pick who also played at Southern Connecticu­t State; Chuck Bradley (West Haven, 1988) who served as a captain at both West Haven and Trinity College; and Eddie Taylor (Wilbur Cross, 1995), who once had nine sacks in a game, then had 99 tackles in a season while playing at SCSU.

Also being inducted is Mike Madera in the community contributo­r category. Madera is a Past President of the Walter Camp Football Foundation and is a longtime freelancer and poll voter for Elm City Newspapers, the New Haven Register and GameTimeCT.com.

AMITY HALL OF FAME

The Amity Alumni Athletic Hall of Fame will induct six new members at the 22nd Annual Hall of Fame Dinner on Thursday Oct. 21, at Grassy Hill Country Club in Orange.

The inductees are as follows: Allison Barwise (2009), a former soccer, indoor and outdoor track and field who was the New Haven Register Female Athlete of the Year in 2009; Joseph Ciancola (2010), ex-hockey and baseball standout; Sal Coppola (1987), who has won seven SCC and six Class LL state championsh­ips and won his 500th game this past season for the Spartans; Janice Ehorn (2008), ex-volleyball standout; Erin (McLaughlin) Guise (2005), a former swimming standout; and Gilbert Jennings (1991), who starred in football, wrestling and outdoor track and field
