State parks reach capacity in Middletown, Hamden

HAMDEN — Multiple state parks were closed to new visitors after reaching capacity Monday, according to the Department of Energy and Environmen­tal Protection.

Wadsworth Falls State Park in Middletown was closed at 1:45 p.m., while Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden was closed earlier in the day at 11:19 a.m.

Kent Falls State Park in Kent closed at 1:56 p.m and Millers Pond State Park in Haddam closed at 2:09 p.m.

Tours of the castle at Gillete Castle State Park in East Haddam were also sold out for the day, officials said, but the park remains open.

State park closures are announced on the @CTStatePar­ks Twitter account.
