Red Moon Fest to feature Small Town Roots band
MIDDLETOWN — The Middlesex Community College Foundation will host its 10th anniversary Red Moon Fest on Oct. 2 at the Middletown campus at 100 Training Hill Road.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. outdoors in The Grove.
This year, organizers named its first honorary chair, Vincent G. Capece Jr., president and CEO of Middlesex Health, to highlight the college’s long-term relationship between Middlesex Health and the Middlesex Community College radiologic technology degree program, according to a press release.
The radiologic technology program has been offered at Middlesex Hospital for at least 50 years, Capece said in a prepared statement. “Students get to learn from Middlesex Health employees; the health system ultimately has a chance to help and shape potential employees. And we continue to strengthen this symbiotic relationship, helping to make our community a better, healthier place in the process.”
“After I graduated, I immediately began working at Middlesex as a second-shift technologist. Less than two years later, I became an instructor of patient care and positioning for the school, which provides me with the opportunity to work directly with our students to impress the importance of compassionate patient care and advocacy,” Renee Pelletier, who graduated from the program in 2010, said in the statement.
During the Red Moon event, the Small Town Roots, a local country and rock band from Portland, will provide live music. The evening will also feature fresh brick-oven gourmet pizza prepared on site, craft beer tasting, wine tasting and more.
Attendees can take part in raffles and a virtual silent auction as well as a live auction to raise funds for student scholarships. The live auction will include a special appeal for the radiologic technology program, the news release said.
