Former acting police chief retires after 26 years
MIDDLETOWN — The Middletown Police Department announced Monday that Deputy Chief Michael Timbro has retired. His final day of work was Sept. 10.
Timbro became deputy chief in 2013, and was promoted to acting chief upon the retirement of chief William McKenna 15 months ago.
In a Facebook post, the department thanked Timbro for his service.
“While his retirement is a loss for the Police Department
and the City of Middletown, it is a win for his family,” it ost reads. “Chief Timbro looks forward to spending more time with his wife, kids, and grandchildren.”
Timbro is a lifelong resident of Middletown and began his career with the police department in 1995, according to the department. He has served in numerous field and supervisory roles within the department, eventually being promoted to deputy chief of police.
Last month, following a second round of interviews with a dozen of the 15 candidates, the city hired Eric Costa, a former state police lieutenant, to head the force.
