Man sentenced to 52 months for bank robbery

MONTVILLE — A 60year-old convicted serial bank robber has been sentenced to more than four years in prison for robbing another bank after being released from prison, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Anthony Hall, 60, of Montville, was sentenced Tuesday in New Haven to 52 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for robbing a Norwich bank while he was on supervised release for a prior federal robbery conviction, according to a press release.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Hall was sentenced in April 2011 in Hartford federal court to 87 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for robbing four Connecticut banks in 2008 and 2009, Leonard C. Boyle, acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut, said in the news release.

Hall was released from federal custody in January 2016. On Sept. 13, 2019, while on federal supervised release, Hall robbed the Eastern Savings Bank on West Main Street in Norwich of approximately $2,400, Boyle said.

Hall has been detained since his arrest on related state charges on Oct. 28, 2019.

Earlier this year, he pleaded guilty in federal court in April to one count of bank robbery, documents show.

The judge sentenced Hall to 40 months in prison for the bank robbery, and an additional 12 months of imprisonment for violating the conditions of his supervised release.
