Connecticut Ice returns with championship rematch

The second time around, the Connecticut Ice men’s hockey tournament will start where it finished two years ago.

Sacred Heart, the champion in the inaugural edition of the tournament in January 2020, will face 2020 runner-up Quinnipiac on Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. at Bridgeport’s Webster Bank Arena in the first round. Yale and UConn will meet earlier that day at 3:30 p.m.

Saturday’s winners meet the next day, Jan. 30, at 4:30 p.m., with the consolation game at 1 p.m. All four games will air on SNY.

The Pioneers beat Quinnipiac

4-1 in the 2020 final as the state’s four Division I hockey programs finally came together for a longawaited tournament. The weekend also included amateur games and youth clinics.
