Library benefit to offer books, baked goods

3-day event begins Sept. 24

-

The Friends of the Guilford Library’s 39th annual fall book and bake sale returns Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sept. 26, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the library, 67 Park St. across from the Guilford Green.

After a hiatus in 2020, the sale, this time in a slightly scaled-down version, will take place mainly outdoors, with tables also in the lobby, meeting room, and the Library Book House, according to a press release. Stock will be refreshed in the morning before each day’s sale and throughout each day.

There will be a selection of used books for children and adults, including fiction, nonfiction, cookbooks, classics, vintage books, books on history, art, nature, sports, religion, health and wellness, plus paper ephemera, classical and pop CDs, DVDs, sheet music, puzzles and artwork.

The bake sale (Saturday in the lobby while supplies last) will offer home-baked treats. On Sunday, everything is half-price. Shoppers can bring their own bag or buy a reusable one from the Library Friends for $1.

All proceeds are used to support the library to buy books, sponsor programs for children, teens and adults; purchase equipment, software and hardware; and to provide staff development, the announcement said.
