Police: Teen charged in purse snatching at Clinton Crossing outlets

CLINTON — A teen was recently charged in connection with a purse snatching at the outlet stores in late June, according to police.

The 17-year-old New Haven resident was charged on Sept. 16 with conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny. The teen is incarcerated at the Bridgeport Juvenile Detention Center on unrelated offenses.

Police said the charges against the teen stemmed from a purse snatching at the Clinton Crossing Premium Outlets on June 29.

Cpl. Spencer Mangs said that while there continues to be an increase in serious crimes involving juveniles statewide, this June case was described by Mangs as an “isolated incident” in town.
