Sebastiano Rizzo, 64, of Middletown, CT, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sep. 19, 2021 surrounded by family, after a long, hard fought battle with cancer.

He was born on February 4, 1957 in Melilli, Italy to Salvatore Rizzo and the late Carmela (Marchese) Rizzo. He came to America as a young boy with his family as many did.

He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He worked for his father at the family business in clothing production and then went on to Manhattan, NY to continue his career in fashion design.

He moved back to CT and was employed and retired with the City of Middletown of 25 years.

He loved the beach, family and his friends. His laughter was contagious and was soft spoken. He will always be remembered for his kind mannerism and his soft smile.

He is survived by his greatest love and pride, his 4 children, Salvatore, Gino, Matteo, and Bianca Rizzo. His father, Salvatore Rizzo. His sisters, Josie Airo and her husband, Joe Airo, Maria Augeri, and his brother, Carmelo Rizzo. He was predecease­d by his mother, Carmela Rizzo, sister, Grace Rizzo and brother-in-law, Joe Augeri. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews who loved him dearly, Michelle Airo Salafia and Rosario Salafia, Patricia Airo Barbaro and Phillip Barbaro, Joseph Spatola and Kayla and Nicole Spatola. He also leaves behind his great-nieces and nephews, Alyssa and her husband Michael, Briana, Steven, Michael, Matteo. Luke and Gianluca as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins both in the USA and Italy.

Special thanks to the CT Hospice Hospital in Branford, CT for the compassion­ate care, comfort, and encouragem­ent that they provided to him and his family.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Sebastian Church, Friday, Sep. 24 at 11:00 a.m. burial to follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery. Arrangemen­ts made by D’Angelo Funeral Home. Masks and social distancing are required.
