Ballet troupe to present fall gala in Essex
MIDDLETOWN — The Ekklesia Contemporary Ballet will present its fall gala performance Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Incarnation Center in the Ivoryton section of Essex.
The Middletown-based troupe relocated from Killingworth to the Church of The Holy Trinity at 381 Main St. last fall. It is a professional, faith-based dance company.
This outdoor performance will feature the company’s “vibrant and virtuosic repertory,” it said in a press release, followed by a cider and donut reception where the audience can meet the dancers.
There will also be an optional yoga meditation workshop before the show from 1 to 1:45 p.m. No experience is necessary, the news release said.
The audience can attend in person and will be socially distancedin accordance with all Centers for Disease and Control guidelines.
The performance will feature a new work, “Body and Land,” a piece that explores the connection between humanity and nature, according to the ballet. The show will also include reimagined pieces that explore “poignant” topics such as exclusion, homelessness, and healing.
