Catherine Rose Talnose Rettig died September 13th 2021.She died peacefully with her family by her side. She was born in West Haven CT to the late Julia Ladany Talnose and Eli Talnose. Catherine was preceded in death by her sister Lois Talnose Tucker and her beloved husband Richard Louis Rettig. Catherine was a proud graduate of West Haven High School and graduated in 1947 with Kappa Phi Honors. She entered Grace New Haven School of Nursing and graduated in 1951.Catherine worked as a nurse for many years--she was deeply proud of her commitment and service to others. She loved her work and spoke about it often. Catherine was a woman of great honesty, integrity, and strength and compassion.

In 1952 she married the love of her life Richard Louis Rettig. They remained inseparabl­e for 68 years. They settled in West Haven CT living on Richard St. and later, Central Ave, where they raised their four beloved children. Richard, David, Judith, Catherine. She loved her family fiercely and worked hard to bring her children up with love and compassion. Later enjoying retirement in Zephyrhill­s, Florida before returning home in 2011 to enjoy their grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren. Catherine will be tremendous­ly missed by her family and friends. Catherine would give unconditio­nally everyday to make people happy always putting others before herself. She is now where she wanted to be in her loving husband’s arms forever.

Catherine is survived by her four children and their spouses, Richard (Ellen) of Houston, TX, Dave (Laurie) Rettig of Branford, CT, Judith (Chris) Rettig of Orlando, Florida and Catherine (Lawrence) Abrams Milford, CT. Her five grandchild­ren, and 8 great grandchild­ren who she loved with all her heart. Catherine will be missed beyond words. Catherine taught her family the importance of strength and kindness which will remain in our hearts forever. We love you Mom.
