STAMFORD — Stamford Health, the city’s largest employer, is planning to relocate about 270 nonclinical employees within the city by the end of this year, as it reduces its office footprint.

The system plans to move those employees from downtown offices, at 1351 Washington Blvd., one mile north to 3001 Summer St. The new offices are now being built out.

“As Stamford Health evaluated our future space needs for various support departments in light of the changing demands for

office spaces, we determined that there was an opportunity to reduce our overall footprint by 22 percent and to find efficiencies — improving departmental coordination by co-locating on a single floor and encouraging our teams to collaborate in new and innovative ways,” said Jonathan Bailey, senior vice president and chief operating officer at Stamford Health.

Remote working instituted as a result of the

COVID-19 pandemic also facilitated the move, according to Bailey.

The employees who will be moving from 1351 Washington to 3001 Summer work across several nonclinical departments: information services; the organization’s foundation; radiology scheduling; patient registration; finance; compliance; and marketing and communications, strategic planning, government affairs and analytics and innovation. There will also be a new call center at 3001 Summer.

In total, about 3,700 people work for Stamford

Health, which includes Stamford Hospital.

There are more than 40 Stamford Health Medical Group locations throughout Fairfield County, with 12 in Stamford. All of them are outpatient facilities and/or doctors’ offices.

In Stamford, there are administrative or nonclinical offices at five main locations: Stamford Hospital, Tully Health Center, 1351 Washington, 292 Long Ridge Road and 1 Omega Drive.
