Antonino Vinci

1941 ~ 2021

Antonino (“Tony”, “Nino”) Vinci, 80, of Berlin, passed away on September 22, 2021, at home, with his wife of 47 years, Kathleen (Dursi) Vinci, his children and grandson by his side.

Antonino was born on January 10, 1941 in Melilli, Sicily, the son of the late Vincenzo and Sebastiana (Pitruzzello) Vinci. After receiving his education he fulfilled his military service in the Italian Navy. A machinist by trade, he was hard working and skilled in many other areas particularly mechanics, welding, metal and wrought iron working, and repairs of every kind. He worked for several years in Sicily, Germany, and New York before moving to Middletown, CT and finally to Berlin, CT in 1977 where he raised his family and was a member of St. Paul Church. He worked at Fafnir Bearing, later known as the Torrington Company, for nearly 20 years, made wrought iron railings in his free time and often helped friends and relatives using his building and repair skills. He enjoyed spending time at the shore, traveling, gardening, wine making, and sharing the fruits of his labors with neighbors and friends.

In addition to his wife Kathleen, he is survived by his sister Maria (Vinci)

Pitruzzello of Melilli, his daughter Marinella Vinci and her partner Steve Sojkowski of Worcester, MA, his son Enzo Vinci and wife Lindsay of Milford, MA, and his grandson Adrian Vinci of Berlin, plus several nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family is thankful for the compassionate and skilled care Antonino received from his doctors, nurses, support staff, and physical therapist.

Calling hours are between 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 29th at D’Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main St., Middletown, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Sebastian Church, 155 Washington St., Middletown. Burial will be immediately following at St. Sebastian Cemetery, 75 Meriden Rd., Middlefield. Masks and social distancing are required.
