Emblem Club military whist game set for Thursday

- By Press Staff

MIDDLETOWN — The Emblem Club 452 will sponsor a military whist Thursday at the BPOE Middletown Lodge 771, 44 Maynard Street.

The doors open at 6 p.m., and the entry fee of $7 includes refreshments. The whist will run from 7 to 9 p.m., with free door prizes, according to a press release.

Military whist is a card game played in groups of four, and requires no previous experience, according to the club. Players may bring their own group of four or join a group forming when they arrive.

Kevin Welch, renowned whist coordinator in the area, will lead the games, explaining how to play throughout the evening.

There is plenty of free parking available at the handicap-accessible lot.

Tickets will be sold at the door. All proceeds benefit the club’s scholarship fund. For information or to reserve a table of four, contact Georgie at 860-345-8966.
