Caroline “Carol” {Cardinale) Carta formerly of Cromwell, Connecticu­t, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter in Franklin, Massachuse­tts, surrounded by her son, daughter and son-in-law. She was born on July 19, 1926 in Southingto­n, Connecticu­t, to Antonio Cardinale and Maria Louse (D’Angelo) Cardinale. She was the wife of the late Frank V. Carta of Middletown who passed away in 1985.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Carta and his wife Yvonne of Johnston, RI, her daughter Celeste Johnson and her husband Wray of Franklin, Massachuse­tts, granddaugh­ters, Stephanie Johnson of San Diego, California, Carrie Seymour and her husband Brandon of Chicopee, Massachuse­tts, and great-grandchild­ren, Logan and Alexa Seymour of Chicopee, Massachuse­tts. She is predecease­d also by her siblings, Joseph Geloso, Angelo Geloso, Michael Cardinale, Anthony Cardinale, Elizabeth Grazioso and Benedict Cardinale.

Carol was a teller at Farmers and Mechanics Savings Bank at the Cromwell Square branch and later worked as a customer service specialist before her retirement. She was active at St. John’s Church in Cromwell for many years in the guild where she and other members of the guild would get together and clean the altar for the holidays. She enjoyed her retirement, working in her yard and around her home. For a time she enjoyed playing cards at the Cromwell Senior Center. She was very active taking walks around the Covenant Village pond as often as possible and going to senior dances in various towns.

Friends and family are invited to attend her funeral on Monday, October. A short visitation will be held beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the D’Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main Street, Middletown, CT. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Church, 5 St. John’s Court, Cromwell, CT. Burial will be at St. Sebastian Cemetery, 75 Meriden Road, Middlefiel­d, CT.

Carol’s family would like to thank the staff of Old Colony Hospice for their compassion and care in her final weeks especially her nurse, Jess, aide Stephanie, social worker Gail, Chaplains Vince and Julie, and nurse, Bethany who so lovingly cared for her this weekend in her final hours.
