Snake slithers into woman’s car

EAST LYME — A woman had an unexpected reptilian passenger in her car Thursday morning.

A woman was driving down a road near Waterford and East Lyme when a garter snake slithered onto her dashboard, Waterford-East Lyme Animal Control said in a Facebook post.

The agency said the woman was able to safely pull over. An animal control officer then removed the snake from the car, the agency said.

Garter snakes are harmless to people and are not venomous, according to the state’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
