Sharyn Ann Dyett
Sharyn Ann Dyett completed her journey on this earth peacefully on September 29, 2021 after a long illness. She was born on January 8, 1958 in White Plains, NY, and spent the last 20 years in Woodbridge, CT.
Sharyn was the beloved daughter of Dr. Benjamin I. Dyett and Betty M. Dyett (both deceased); the cherished sister of Laura Irene Dyett, Dr. Deborah Dyett Desir (Dr. Gary Desir), and Benjamin I. Dyett, Jr. (Rosemarie Ryan); and the adoring aunt of Carl Desir (Piper Hickman), Matthew Desir (Cortni Desir), Chrysanthemum Desir (Camille Seaberry), Alexandra Desir (Maurice Clarke), Michael Sneed, and Ella Dyett; and the loving great-aunt of Élodie and Amari.
Sharyn spent her childhood in White Plains and attended the Hackley School in Tarrytown, NY for middle school and high school. She graduated in 1976 and was a popular fixture at Hackley, playing both Oboe and Trumpet in orchestra and band, and was an important friend many of her classmates. Sharyn went on to college at Ohio State University (go Buckeyes!!), graduated in 1980, and went on to a career in computer science in Ohio with Electronic Data Systems (EDS). In school, college and work, Sharyn made lifelong friendships that she cherished. She eventually moved to CT in 2002 to become the operations manager of a thriving medical practice, the Arthritis & Osteoporosis Center, P.C., and to help take care of her ailing mother.
One of the lights of Sharyn’s life was her membership and participation in the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,
Inc. (AKA). She was committed to AKA’s two key areas of focus: the lifelong personal and professional development of each of its members; and galvanizing its membership into an organization of respected power and influence, consistently at the forefront of effective advocacy and social change that results in equality and equity for all citizens of the world.
Sharyn will always be remembered for her infectious laugh and enchanting smile.
