Howard Jay Reiter

Howard Jay Reiter, age 61, of Woodbridge, Connecticut passed away unexpectedly on September 4th, 2021, while enjoying a beautiful day with his family. Howard was a graduate of Hopkins Grammar School, Princeton University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Howard was an inventor of a multitude of United States and Foreign Patents, President of Rome Fastener Corporation, Romag Fasteners, Inc., Romed Fasteners, Inc. and Grand Fasteners Limited, and he was recently the victor in the 9-0 United States Supreme Court Decision Romag v. Fossil. Howard was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Federation of North America, Katz Center for Judaic Studies, Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven, Anti-Defamation League Connecticut Region, and the Jewish Cemetery Association of Greater New Haven, was as an Honorary Trustee of the Center for Jewish Life at Princeton University, and was a regular Torah reader at Congregation B’nai Jacob. Howard was a pillar of his communities, and he used his limitless energy, strong sense of compassion, and his resources to create meaningful jobs and support the institutions that helped shape his own sense of self.

Howard always gave his all and blessed his family and friends with his radiant energy, his warm smile, and the signature twinkle in his eye. His loss leaves a void in the hearts of his wife and business partner, Jody Ellant, children Gavriela, Aiden, Ari and Gideon Ellant Reiter, parents Dr. Stanley and Marcia Reiter, siblings Dr. Robert (Fredrica) and Steven Reiter, Debra Reiter Panitch, in-laws Dr. Jonathan and Devi Enerio Ellant and Thomas and Elissa Ellant Katz, as well as the numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss his unique enthusiasm for life.
