Sean Willie Hakai, a cherished father of four and beloved husband of twenty years, passed away from Covid on September 27, 2021.

Sean is survived by his wife Monica Hakai, his· four children, daughter Kaylaa Hakai, daughter Heaven Hakai, daughter Serenity Hakai, and son Sean Hakai. His sister Mu Hakai, brother Andrew Hakai, brother Fetuao Hakai, nephew Anthony Hakai, father Fetuao Hakai, father-in-law Victor Federico, brother-in-law Victor Federico II, nephew Victor Federico III, and sister-inlaw Misty Federico. He is predecease­d by his mother Fa’amalepe Hakai.

Sean was born in American Samoa on October 1, 1981 to parents Fa’amalepe Hakai and Fetuao Hakai. He moved to California as a young boy and attended Magnolia High School in Anaheim, California. He enjoyed excelling at band and being captain of the football team. Sean met his wife in California and in 2000 they declared their love for one another. They created four smart and wonderful children together. In 2018, Sean moved from California to Connecticu­t and became Equipment Manager at Eastern Metal Company, where he worked at until his passing.

Sean was a devoted husband and father, he was a hard worker, an avid gamer, an anime lover,, and a football enthusiast. When Sean wasn’t working he was spending time with his family, be it putting puzzles together, playing video games together, enjoying a great movie together, or watching the latest anime together. Sean’s favorite football team was the 49ers, a fan since childhood and a fandom that extended to his whole family. Sean fell in love with the snow and the changing seasons of Connecticu­t. His one wish was to experience a snow blizzard that would keep him home so he could spend the day having snowball fights and build snowmen with his children. Sean will be deeply and unequivoca­lly missed by his family, friends, and those who knew him.

Sean Hakai’s memorial service will be held at D’Angelo Funeral Home at 22 South Main Street Middletown, CT on October 8th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
