Historian to explore ‘hallowed grounds’
Cemetery walk to return Oct. 17
CROMWELL — The Cromwell Hillside Cemetery Association is hosting a spooky event in honor of Halloween Oct. 17.
A Fall Hallowed Ground Cemetery walk will take place that day at 1 p.m. on the eastern portion of the cemetery on Hillside Road, according to a press release.
Members of the living history department of the Cromwell Historical Society, dressed in period clothing, will share the stories of the men and women buried at the cemetery. Town historian Richard Franklin Donohue will lead guests through the burial sites, the news release said.
“This year’s tour will celebrate the lives of influential members of various Cromwell churches and explore the ubiquitous role that church played in their lives,” an announcement said.
The rain date is Oct. 24. Refreshments will be served. Admission is free, but donations to benefit the work of both nonprofit groups will be accepted.
