Seeking reelection in North Haven
My name is Sally Buemi and I am seeking reelection as a selectman in North Haven. I’ve been serving on the Board of Selectmen for eight years. I’ve been privileged to talk with many citizens, and I appreciate the kind words of support over the years.
It’s a challenge being the lone Democrat on the Board of Selectmen. But I’ve worked very hard to represent all North Haveners. It is an honor to serve my hometown, where I’ve lived all my life. I’ve developed a good working relationship with my fellow board members, but I’ve always been certain to emphasize areas of disagreement with Mr. Freda. I believe respectful discussion of different opinions is good for the town and leads to better decisionmaking. I also enjoy writing my monthly column to keep folks informed about town affairs.
I appreciate the many opportunities I’ve had to organize and/or participate in special events like the ceremony in 2015 for World War II veterans, or in 2018 for World War I veterans, or the recent 9/11 ceremony on the Green. These events are an important part of being a member of the Board of Selectmen, a function I am honored to fulfill.
I have the skills and experience to serve as selectman. I have a bachelor’s degree in political science and master’s degree in public administration, both from UConn, and a law degree from Western New England. I served two years on the Community Services Commission, four years on the Board of Finance and now eight years on the Board of Selectmen. I own and operate a law practice here in town. I am anxious to keep working hard for North Haven. I am asking for your vote on Nov. 2.
