Police on alert for missing, possibly ill child
OLD SAYBROOOK — Police are looking for a 3-year-old boy who has been missing since Wednesday.
Police believe Austin Freytag, 3, is with his mother, Elizabeth Freytag, 46. Freytag is driving a gray 2018 Ford Explorer with a license plate of AJ68938, according to the Old Saybrook Police Department.
Police also believe Austin is ill and his mother apparently told others that the child should be taken to Boston Children’s Hospital rather than any medical facility in the state.
Police said the mother, Elizabeth Freytag, is refusing to communicate verbally with officials, as well as refusing to go to the closest police department. Police said they want to verify that both the parent and child are “emotionally and physically safe.”
Austin was described as having brown hair and brown eyes. He is 3-feet-5inches tall and weighs 45 pounds. Austin was last seen wearing glasses as well as a red and gray shirt, police said.
Anyone with information on Austin’s whereabouts is asked to call the Old Saybrook Police Department at 860-395-3142.
