Police: Middletown man charged after violating 3 separate protective orders
MIDDLETOWN— A Middletown man was arrested last week after he allegedly violated three different protective orders and illegally possessed multiple firearms, according to an arrest report from the city police department.
On Oct. 6, Middletown police went to the home of Patrick Munson to serve a restraining order, and two active arrest warrants for two prior violations of a protective order.
All three protective orders name the mother of his two children as the protected person. Two were issued on March 19 and the third on Aug. 5. They required that Munson surrender all firearms and ammunition, stay away from the protected person, their two children and their home, according to the report.
Munson was outside his home when police arrived, and he initially fled inside his house and would not allow police to enter. He eventually complied and was taken into custody, police said.
According to the report, when police searched the home, they found “multiple edged weapons,” and a “large amount” of ammunition, all within reach of one of his children who was in the home at the time. A later search of the home found a shotgun, a hand revolver, another shotgun that was disassembled, an extended 35-round magazine, “a large quantity of ammunition,” and multiple BB/airsoft guns.
He was charged with three counts of violation of protective orders, criminal possession of firearm and ammunition, risk of injury to a minor, and interfering with an officer, according to the report.
Munson was held on $200,000 bond. He is due to appear in court on Oct. 29, according to state judicial department records.
