Berrios joins Pearce New Haven office

NEW HAVEN — Mary E. Berrios of Hamden has joined the New Haven office of Pearce Real Estate, according to a release.

Berrios has a bachelor’s degree from Springfiel­d College in human services, and office administra­tion from the Morse School of Business, the release said, and has more than 27 years of experience in the state Department of Children and Families, where she served as an office assistant, eligibilit­y worker and a social worker, it said.

“Mary brings great people skills to her new position and working in real estate is really about working with people,” Pearce Chairwoman and CEO Barbara L. Pearce said in the release. “Being bilingual in English and Spanish is a real asset for her also. We wish Mary a very successful and long career with Pearce.”

Free Quickbooks webinar offered for small businesses

The Southeaste­rn Connecticu­t chapter of SCORE will offer a free small business webinar, “Choosing the Right QuickBooks: The Basics of Setting Up Your QuickBooks Company,” with Intuit Pro Advisor Elizabeth Santaus, according to a release.

The webinar will compare features of the desktop vs. online Quickbooks platforms, review setup preference­s and options, and include a questionan­d-answer session.

Attendees are asked to have Quickbooks loaded on their computer for this webinar, the release noted.

According to the release, Santaus has more than 28 years of experience in the financial accounting software and bookkeepin­g industry, and “has consulted, trained, and provided bookkeepin­g

services for more than 300 small businesses in Connecticu­t and New York since launching Dressler Santaus LLC in 2006.”

Housatonic River Job Network October meetings set

MILFORD — The Housatonic River Job Network has announced its October meetings.

— Oct. 19: Guest speaker will be Kimberly Saltus, managing director of FiftyFirst Street, and the topic will be “Dealing With Change - Creating the life you want in 2021.”

— Oct. 26: Guest speaker will be Andy Ancel, marketing consultant at LW Brand Design, and the topic will be “Networking 2 Referrals.”

Some of the areas to be covered include: “when and how to reach out to contacts; why word-ofmouth doesn’t always work and what you can do about it; how can you keep top-of-mind-awareness without being a pest; how often should you contact someone you’re networking with; and what can be done if you do network with someone and nothing comes of it,” the release said.

Both meetings begin at 7 p.m. at the Margaret Egan Community Center, 35 Matthew St. All health guidelines will be followed included socially distanced seating and wearing of masks while in the center.
