SPARE CHANGE: From April 1-June 30, 2022, residents can help make a difference in their communities by cashing in their spare change. FIREHOUSE OPEN HOUSE: Hamden Fire Department will reopen its doors for an open house at Station 2, 71 Circular Avenue, Hamden, 9-11 a.m. Saturday. Public welcome; tour the station, meet firefighters and learn about daily operations. Apparatus will be on the grounds for a “touch a truck” opportunity along with equipment demonstrations, fire safety and prevention, community risk reduction and recruitment information, with applications available.

PARADE PARTICIPANTS WANTED:
The city and the West Haven Veterans Council are seeking veterans, civic groups, fraternal organizations, service clubs and marching bands to participate in the annual Memorial Day parade, which steps off at 10:30 a.m. May 30. Participants must register and list required special accommodations for the procession, which has no rain date. The city will provide transportation for veterans who are unable to walk the 1.5-mile parade route, which follows Campbell Avenue from Captain Thomas Boulevard to Center Street. WHITE HOUSE BUTLER: Former White House butler Alan DeValerio will give a presentation at the West Haven Senior Center in the Johnson Community Center, 201 Noble St., West Haven, 10 a.m. April 21.
WHSC members will get the inside scoop from DeValerio on the preparations for entertaining at the White House, including how the functions have evolved from the administration of President Franklin D.
