Area students lauded for achievements
BOSTON — The following local students were named to the 2021 fall semester dean’s list at Simmons University. To qualify, each must obtain a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher, based on 12 or more credit hours of work. They are Anna Mercier of Haddam, Maisy Talbot of Higganum, Kate Farrell of Ivoryton, Gabrielle Flaherty of Killingworth, Meghan Doxsee of Killingworth and Miangela Ramos of Middletown.
Williston Northampton School
EASTHAMPTON, Mass. — Williston Northampton School 11th-grade student Connor Jenkins of Higganum made the honor roll for the second trimester of the 2021-22 academic year. Those included on the list must achieve an average of 87.
Eastern Connecticut State University
WILLIMANTIC — The club cheerleading team at Eastern Connecticut State University finished in the top 10 at the National Cheerleaders Association College Nationals between April 6 and 10 in Daytona Beach, Fla. With more than 400 teams competing, the College Nationals is the largest collegiate cheerleading competition in the country.
Area students are: Lindsey Dizenzo of Old Saybrook, a first-year student majoring in pre-elementary education and English; Megan Pare of Cromwell, a senior majoring in health sciences; Faith Lee of Portland, a sophomore majoring in health sciences; and Anna Maselek of Portland, a sophomore majoring in pre-elementary education and communication.
Saint Bernard School
UNCASVILLE — Saint Bernard School has announced the names of local students chosen for the third quarter honor roll of the 2021-22 academic year.
They are: Ninth-grader Aubree Nygaard of East Haddam and 10th-grader Theodore Burrell of East Haddam, high honors with distinction; Julia Allgaier of Clinton, Jaime Nygaard of East Haddam and David Camperchioli of Westbrook, high honors; and Kevin Poeschl of Clinton, honors.
Elmira College
ELMIRA, N.Y. — Gabrielle Caporossi of Durham was named to the Elmira College dean’s list for the winter 2022 term. Fulltime undergraduate students registered for at least 12 computable credit hours and earning a term GPA of 3.6 or higher at the end of term I or term II are eligible.
Upper Iowa University
FAYETTE, Iowa — Upper Iowa University has announced its 2022 honors and Awards program recipients. Alexandra Dombrowski of East Hampton was awarded the John Kinley Emergency and Disaster Management Scholarship.
University of Scranton
SCRANTON, Pa. — Shannon Bristol of East Hampton was among Scranton students inducted into Beta Beta Beta, the national honor society for biology. Each must have completed at least three biology courses, maintained at least a 3.0 GPA in biology, and be in good academic standing. The society encourages undergraduate biological research through presentations at conventions, publication in the journal BIOS, and research/travel grants. Bristol is a junior biology major at the Jesuit university.
Bob Jones University
Daniel Bendzinski, a senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Christian ministries from Bob Jones University, was hired before graduation as a intern at New Hope Baptist Church in Torrington. Bendzinski is a resident of East Hampton.
Hamilton College
CLINTON, N.Y. — Margaret Maselli of Old Saybrook recently performed in the Hamilton College Dance and Movement Studies Department’s annual spring dance concert. Maselli, a sophomore majoring in dance and and physics, is a graduate of Old Saybrook High School.
Fairleigh Dickinson University
MADISON, N.J. — Kayla Delloiacono of Moodus, a student at Fairleigh Dickinson University, was named to the honors list for the fall 2021 semester. To qualify, each must carry a 3.5 or better GPA out of a possible 4.0 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours.
Manchester Community College
MANCHESTER — Manchester Community College announce the students who made the CEO’s list and dean’s list recognition for the fall 2021 semester. Academic excellence is recognized based on performance in the most recently completed full semester.
Full-time students enrolled in 12 credits or more and who have earned a GPA of 3.4 with no withdrawals or incomplete grades in that semester are eligible for the dean’s list. Each must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher.
