Firefighter charged in North Branford crash
NORTH BRANFORD — Branford’s first career female firefighter was charged Tuesday with a hit-and-run that killed a 52-year-old North Branford man last year, according to the police department.
Amanda Mark, 36, of Killingworth, turned herself in Tuesday on an outstanding warrant, police said.
She was charged with evasion of responsibility in operation of a motor vehicle resulting in death, the police department said.
Mark is scheduled to appear May 13 in state Superior Court in New
Haven, according to police.
Mark was appointed Branford’s deputy fire marshal last June, according to the fire department’s Facebook page. It was not immediately clear Tuesday evening whether Mark still held the position.
The crash took place on Oct. 16, 2021. Officers were called to Branford Road around 6:15 a.m.
Police and fire personnel found the body of Douglas Clark, 52, in the road. Investigators said Clark was struck by a car that fled the area.
