Open studios events come back to I-Park
EAST HADDAM — I-Park, the home of a multidisciplinary artists-inresidence program set within a 450-acre nature preserve, announces the return of its traditional open studios events.
Artists from around the world have been invited to spend a block of time at I-Park this summer and fall to experiment and challenge themselves, and each other, with new ideas, the venue said in a news release.
Studios open to the public at the end of each residency session so artists can share their creative process and new discoveries, the statement said.
The first is scheduled for June 26 at 2 p.m.
I-Park also announces the return of its open trails initiative, which will kick off with a “Saturday in the Park event” May 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors
are invited to stroll, hike, explore the land, and are welcome to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy a relaxing screen-free, fresh air experience, the organization said.
A guided bird walk will
be offered at 9 a.m. by members of the Mattabeseck Chapter of the Audubon Society. The event is family-friendly for children of all ages. A scavenger hunt with prizes take place. However, due to the fragility of the artwork and the natural features at I-Park, family pets are not permitted on the I-Park grounds.
Tickets are $10 for adults, children 17 and younger are free.
Additionally, I-Park is hosting a volunteers day May 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is a familyfriendly event for anyone 14 or older.
I-Park needs help cleaning debris off the trails, sprucing up its garden beds, reorganizing the indoor studios, and some painting. Volunteers day gives the public the opportunity to enjoy the 450acre nature preserve with like-minded art and nature lovers.
A complimentary lunch will be served after the work party.
